1. Paid to Click

Paid To Click is an online business model that draws online traffic from people aiming to earn from home. Paid-To-Click, or simply PTC websites act as middlemen between advertisers and consumers; the advertiser pays for displaying ads on the PTC website, and a part of this payment goes to the viewer when he views the advertisement.

The viability of the PTC business model has been questioned, as fraudulent clicks have ramped up the expenses for advertisers. With lawsuits filed against the internet search companies, the burden has been placed on Google, Yahoo and others to determine the valid clicks from the fraudulent ones, although PTC site may just be used as advertising, to direct traffic to one's site.

Scams, although exposed on various PTC forums, are still heavily used by newcomers who are drawn in to the websites by search engines. Scam PTC sites are known to attract new users with cheap offers for upgrades and referrals and disappear without trace after a short time.

2. What is traffic exchange ?

A traffic exchange website receives website submissions from webmasters that join traffic exchange networks. The person who submitted the website then has to browse other member sites on the exchange program to earn credits, which enable their sites to be viewed by other members through the surf system. This increases the number of visitors to all the sites involved.

Exchanges enforce a certain credit ratio, which illustrates the amount of websites the surfer must view in order to receive one hit through the program for their promoted website. Many sites offer the ability to upgrade one's membership level for a more equal credit ratio.

As the viewers are all website owners or affiliates, it is possible that some might find certain member sites interesting and thus make note of them on their own sites, sending more traffic their way. Most traffic programs also impose a time limit when members are browsing, ranging from 10 seconds to 60 seconds. Some incorporate the use of captcha to ensure user interaction.

Almost all traffic exchange programs are free, although many of them offer special features to paid members and offer credits for purchase. Almost all traffic exchange programs encourage users to build their own referral networks, which in turn increases the referrers' amount of credits.

The traffic generated in a traffic exchange can be leveraged by using a downline builder to assist the user in building a referral network in the many different traffic exchanges.

In practice, traffic exchange programs are generally used by small business owners or marketers who either want free advertising or use the exchange programs for low-budget advertisement campaigns.

The key to using traffic exchanges is understanding that the person will only be viewing your site for 10–20 seconds. Rather than sending the person to your website, you should be sending them to a specific advertisement designed for traffic exchanges. The most effective are squeeze pages, which have a simple headline, description, and opt-in form for an autoresponder. Then the surfer can easily type their email address in and receive more information about your product or services at a later time.

Google disallows using Adsense on Traffic Exchanges. Users who wish to advertise their websites on a traffic exchange but also have Adsense ads should create separate pages for advertising in traffic exchanges that do not have Adsense ads.

3. How to make more money with PTC sites ?

Many of you are asking how to make more money with PTC sites.  Many people believe that to make money with PTC sites you need to join as many as you can.  This is not the right way.

To be successful you need to use the power of referrals.  Referrals are the way to residual income and the only way you will make “real” money with PTC sites.

OK so how do we do this.  First off, limit the amount of sites you join to under 10.  By joining a reasonable amount of sites you are more able to stay active on those sites and focus on getting referrals.

Another important point about limiting the amount of sites you join, is that you will be able to stay on top of which sites are paying and which sites are scams.  Joining a ton of sites only to waste clicks on those that are not paying you is a waste of your time.  It’s better to stay on top of a few and build your downline to leverage the earning power of that site.

Success lies in leverage, and leverage in this case lies in your referrals.

4. Get Paid To sites

Incentive sites - also known as Get Paid To Sites (GPT) or Paid Per Click Sites (PPC sites) or referral sites pay people in gifts or cash for doing 2 main things - Completing Offers and Referring people.

Completing Offers Most incentive sites pay their users in points for completing offers, however, some pay their users with cash. These offers usually require people to do one of these things: signing up for a site, entering a pin code (mobile), purchasing trial products or full products or completing surveys.

Referring People Referring people simply means inviting them to the site under a referral link (this is unique to different users). You are either paid for every person you invite or a percentage of how much they make.

Many people refer to getting these prizes as free since most of the time users don't have to pay for anything. Examples of these are: free runescape membership, free microsoft points, free consoles etc.

Scams Some incentive sites do scam people and don't pay them so it is strongly advised for people to do some research before signing up for one

5. How to find direct referrals?

Every PTC site will give you a referral URL. There are an unlimited number of ways you can advertise your referral URL. There are Free and Paid autosurf programs that will allow you to effectively advertise the program with your referral URL.

Additionally, you could submit the link into the various search engines available, post in a variety of forums, purchase ad space, and even post your referral URL in the signature of every email or post you make.

Traffic exchange is a good way to promote your ref link for free. You can also make a blog (like mine) and put there your referral links.
